Who's at the Captain's Table?
June 17th, 2018 | on the road
In July our first “Captain’s Dinner Live” will take place in cooperation with the FrischeParadies Hamburg! Five courses, accompanying wines – Do you fancy oysters, lobsters, Labskaus and a nice chat? Sign up and get one of 30 seats!
Yes, this post contains an ad for the FrischeParadies. Attention: Visiting the FrischeParadies can be addictive!
Our location: The Große Elbstraße in Hamburg. Twenty years ago, still grubby and marked by the fish trade and street hookers, it has become a gastronomic and gourmet mile. And right there, in the FrischeParadies, our first Captain’s Dinner will take place on July 27. A stone’s throw away from the berth of the big cruise ships, so to speak. Isn’t that awesome? We’ll have a great, fun evening, I promise you that.
Together with Ivan Pagel, the chef of the bistro in FrischeParadies, we have put together a menu, as it cannot fit better to a proper Captain’s Dinner.
The Captain's Dinner Menu
Oysters natural or with Vinaigrette
Lobster Soup “FrischeParadies”
Labskaus new Style
Monkfish Medallions with Chorizo and Beans
Rum Raisin Parfait
99 €
And best of all, my dearest captain most probably will be back from his assignment in time.
Here are the most important things summed up again:

Piedmontese chocolate pudding with vanilla quince
A beautiful and strong coffee, anyone? Then, after a substantial meal, this specialty from the Piedmont is the right! In Piedmont, this pudding is called also Bonèt, because its form probably reminds something to a hat or a chef’s hat. Another story around the Bonèt comes from the Langhe. It states that one puts so to speak “a hat” – a crown – on dinner with this dessert. Anyhow, it tastes excellently and even better when prepared the day before. Incredibly handy when you expect guests.
PS: The Vanilla Quinces are a perfect match!

Tomato gnocchi get their colour from a few tablespoons of tomato paste and their wonderfully fluffy consistency from ricotta. The strong chorizo sauce goes perfectly with the gentle sweetness of the gnocchi. Crispy sage leaves are the aromatic icing on the cake.
