Skewered sausage with lots of vegetables

July 26th, 2019 | main dishes

Sausages are boring for a BBQ? Then you should try and do some bratwurst Ikebana… Zucchini, sweet potatoes and a good organic bratwurst – skewered – and off you go.

Skewered sausage with lots of vegetables

Today it is just too hot to cook a lot, so we’ll have something very, very simple. These bratwurst skewers can be prepared very well, they look appealing and above all: no sausage can roll from the grill grate 😉

Crunchy vegetables, fresh herbs and the sausage are cooked at the same time, cut into strips so everyone gets his portion of sausage and vegetables. A delicious aioli or a good, fine mustard, of course crispy baguette bread and the bratwurst pleasure can start.

Bratwurst vegetable skewers

(makes 6 skewers)

1 thick, long, yellow and green zucchini
3 elongated sweet potatoes
cut the zucchini and sweet potatoes into slices of about 2 mm with the vegetable slicer
3 TS olive oil
salt, pepper from the mill
5 sprigs of lemon thyme
brush the zucchini and sweet potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper and layer alternately with thyme leaves or twigs
10 Thuringian bratwurst (organic)
6 skewers
skewer Bratwurst and vegetable alternating as shown in the photo
grill the skewers on the hot grill for approximately 4-5 minutes per side, then cut into three individual skewers and serve with aioli and bread

Rabbit with stuffed onions and apples April 13th, 2019 | main dishes

Rabbit with stuffed onions and apples

A festive dish, made for the family party at Easter! The rabbit legs stay in the oven for three hours at low temperature – enough time to prepare the stuffed onions and bring the banquet to the table. Slow Food, so to speak.

Due to the long, gentle cooking time, the rabbit is super-tender and juicy, the stuffed onions taste delicious and are a real eye-catcher. The stewed apples and a velvety-spicy sauce complete a perfect festive meal. Your guests will be thrilled!

Tonka bean mousse with blood orange ragout

In five days is Valentine’s Day! Unfortunately, my dearest captain is not ashore. But if he were there, I would spoil him with this dessert: It comes along in three layers: a blood orange ragout, seasoned with grenadine, a quark yoghurt mousse flavored with tonka beans, and topped with deep-fried wonton strips and salted caramel. A dessert that sparkles in your mouth, and certainly enchants your sweetheart!
