Bratwurst-Gemüse-Spieße

Skewered sausage with lots of vegetables

July 26th, 2019 | main dishes

Sausages are boring for a BBQ? Then you should try and do some bratwurst Ikebana… Zucchini, sweet potatoes and a good organic bratwurst – skewered – and off you go.

Skewered sausage with lots of vegetables

Today it is just too hot to cook a lot, so we’ll have something very, very simple. These bratwurst skewers can be prepared very well, they look appealing and above all: no sausage can roll from the grill grate 😉

Crunchy vegetables, fresh herbs and the sausage are cooked at the same time, cut into strips so everyone gets his portion of sausage and vegetables. A delicious aioli or a good, fine mustard, of course crispy baguette bread and the bratwurst pleasure can start.

Bratwurst vegetable skewers

(makes 6 skewers)

1 thick, long, yellow and green zucchini
3 elongated sweet potatoes
cut the zucchini and sweet potatoes into slices of about 2 mm with the vegetable slicer
3 TS olive oil
salt, pepper from the mill
5 sprigs of lemon thyme
brush the zucchini and sweet potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper and layer alternately with thyme leaves or twigs
10 Thuringian bratwurst (organic)
6 skewers
skewer Bratwurst and vegetable alternating as shown in the photo
grill the skewers on the hot grill for approximately 4-5 minutes per side, then cut into three individual skewers and serve with aioli and bread

Salad with pomegranate dressing

Pomegranates are power fruits, they spice up every salad. In this recipe, you use pomegranate syrup instead of the fresh seeds, so you avoid the annoying pitting of the pomegranate. This exotic oriental salad – together with flatbread and hummus – is a great summer entree.

Risotto with saffron, almonds and crispy chorizo November 4th, 2018 | side dishes

Saffron – it’ gold among the spices

We are fortunate that our captain brings, for example, saffron and vanilla directly from the markets in the Caribbean or the “spice souk” in Dubai . This is admittedly the reason why we sometimes use exquisite and expensive spices in a quite lavish way. Anyway, our saffron almond risotto with chorizo certainly succeeds with less than two cans of saffron.
