Headache? Not on New Year

A wonderful New Year to all of you! May 2019 bring happiness, health and joy to you! Sometimes and unfortunately, New Year begins with a little (or more) headache due to the extended New Year’s celebrations. For those who want to combat it in a natural way, I have a great tip for you!
“Lemon and coffee” is the magic formula! A pharmacist gave me this tip when I had such a severe headache during pregnancy with our son that I sent the expectant father to the pharmacy. He came back without “saving” medication, made me a double espresso, squeezed half a lemon in and served me this medicine.
Granted, it is not delicious. But – it works.
The caffeine narrows dilated blood vessels in the brain and the vitamin C of the lemon contributes to the formation of a body’s own messenger, which dampens the headache.
And all without chemistry. Just try it!

Campari orange in white pantsuit
Many years ago, I once met an elderly, chic lady in a white pantsuit on the pier of Usedom [island at the Baltic Sea]. She was sitting there enjoying a Campari orange. As she left, she stopped by our table, said what great kids we had, and left. That was a magical moment. Since then, I have dreamed of living in the house by the sea, drinking my Campari orange in my white pantsuit in the early evening. I’m still working on it. And until then there is the drink as a cake. My Campari cake is the cracker in the summer!

Shore Leave in Barcelona
I’m sometimes asked whether a captain has time for a shore leave now and then. Yes. He does. In consultation with his deputy, the staff captain, he sometimes can enjoy a short break. However, he never moves far from the ship. Safe is safe. But a lunch at a restaurant – preferably recommended by the local pilots – is a welcome interruption of board routine or a small tour through the respective port city.
